World Food Day

Today is world Food Day! On October 16, the world come together to acknowledge the importance of food on our lives and around the world.

World Food Day was created by the Food and Agricultural Organization of the United Nations (FAO) to recognize the challenges that people face in accessing healthy and affordable food every day.

The intention is to raise awareness about hunger and malnutrition, as well as remind us all how important food is to our health, culture and economy.

In light of the recent natural disasters, FAO has chosen this year’s theme - “Changing Climate, Changing Food System” - as a reminder that we need to adapt our current food systems so they are able to better withstand future climate shocks.

As such, World Food Day will highlight sustainable food production practices through educational seasons on topics like urban gardening and hydroponics.
