Celestine Omehia Removed as the Governor of Rivers State For the 2nd Time
The Rivers State House of Assembly has called for the removal of the former Governor of Rivers State Celestine Ngozichim Omehia as former Governor in the state.
In a statement, the house said, Omehia is no more to be recognized as a former Governor of Rivers State.
The sterm decision was taken by all 21 members of the state house of Assembly on Thursday, October 6th 2022.
The house asked him to refund 600 Million benefits he received from the state as a former Governor. All 21 members who voted for his removal also ordered him to return the total pension of 900 Million he received
As you may know Omehia was removed as the former Governor of Rivers State by Amaechi on the 26th October 2007.
Celestine Ngozichim Omehia was the fourth governor of Rivers State, from 29th May 2007 to 25th October 2007.
Omehia was restored back as a Governor of the state by Wike on the 25th of June 2015, with all rights and privileges as a former Governor.
The resignation has continued to generate more reactions, as some political analysts says the resignation is as a result of Omehia’s support to the presidential aspirant of PDP Atiku Abubaka
