This has got a lot of people talking, because Gov. wike before the party presidential primary election, that he is going to support any one that emerges as the winner.
The question that got people talking inside Port Harcourt is, what happened and why did he change his mind?
Gov. Wike has several questioned the position of the party chairman. He has made it clear, that the northern side can’t have the two strong positions in the party.
Recall that wike has insisted that the PDP party chairman Iyorchia Ayu steps down as the national chairman following the victory of Atiku as the party presidential candidate.
For wike, he continued to maintain his position remains to maintain what Ayu has earlied said in the party national caucus meeting 2021, the party reached a consensus agreement, that he would step down if the presidential candidate emerged from the North.
Following the vote of confidence given to Ayu by some party members, who were against Gov wike decision for the party chairman to step down.
Wike in a brief conversation, said River State people are not going to vote or give their vote to anyone who is not sincere in their words.
Atiku says he can't force Ayu to resign. Ayu says he won't resign.
Meaning, even if Atiku wins, Ayu still won't resign.
Meaning, Atiku of Northern extraction will be President. And Ayu of Northern extraction too will be PDP National Chairman.
After a meeting he called for in Port Harcourt. Where top party stakeholders were present. The Governor made it clear that because of his decision, he is not leaving the party.
I am a man of my words, and I stand for the right thing to be done and adhered to.
