Man becomes first to die of Coronavirus outside China (see photos)

44-Year-old man from Wuhan city in China becomes the first to die of Coronavirus outside China, he died in a Philippine hospital.

The man who suffered symptoms of pneumonia and deteriorated over the last 24 hours in a Philippine hospital made the first death recorded outside of China since the outbreak of Coronavirus, according to the World Health.

“This is the first reported death outside China,” World Health Organization (WHO) Philippines’ representative Rabindra Abeyasinghe told reporters in Manila.

The first case of the new coronavirus in Philippine arrived January 21, was confirmed on January 30 by Philippine health officials which resulted in the Philippine government expanding its travel ban to include all foreigners coming from China.

The man who suffered symptoms of pneumonia and deteriorated over the last 24 hours in a Philippine hospital made the first death recorded outside of China since the outbreak of Coronavirus, according to the World Health.


“This is the first reported death outside China,” World Health Organization (WHO) Philippines’ representative Rabindra Abeyasinghe told reporters in Manila.

A 38-year-old Chinese woman who had traveled to the Philippines with the man was also infected with the coronavirus and is being quarantined at the same hospital.

Rabindra Abeyasinghe, the WHO representative to the Philippines, urged people to remain calm: “This is the first reported death outside China.

“However, we need to take into mind that this is not a locally acquired case. This patient came from the epicentre of this outbreak.”
